LADIES WELCOME!
The Gaddistown Homemakers Club is a group of Suches area women who are interested in preserving the natural beauty and the noble traditions, as well as supporting various modernization efforts under way in this small, rural, mountain community.
Much of the work we do each year is fundraising to help our school and community. Our major annual fundraising event is the Indian Summer Festival, but we also hold periodic bake sales and quilt ticket sales. All profits from our fundraising are returned to the community in the form of contributions to: Woody Gap School (books for the library, scholarships for graduating seniors, annual science trips), the Volunteer Fire Department Precinct #5 (Suches), Aid to Needy Families, Sponsorship of the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Program, and Socials for Personal Care Home residents. In addition, we contribute to our area by participating in various community/county activities.
Don't know how to quilt? Don't know how to bake? No problem! You don't need any special skills or talents to belong to our group - just a desire to make our community a better place to live and to enjoy spending time with others. If you are new to our area or a native of Suches, we need you. The Gaddistown Homemakers Club is a wonderful way to meet and enjoy fellowship with women of all ages in our community. Some of our members are in their twenties, some are in their seventies, but most are in-between.
Except for December and January, we meet on the first Tuesday of everyFor more information, please feel free to contact Margo Crooks, President, Gaddistown Homemakers Club, at 706-455-3930, or by e-mail at mmcrooks@windstream.net or Marie Piper, Secretary at 404-444-0832 or by email at terrypiper@windstream.net.
