* 3-15-08 - I am with the Georgia Outdoor Writers Association (GOWA). Our organization has recently adopted a recognition program for Georgians who have contributed greatly to our great Georgia outdoors. Arthur Woody is one of those great people and will be among the first to be recognized in an upcoming ceremony in April. His name will be engraved on a permanent plaque to be kept at the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center in Mansfield.
We are looking for close relatives of Ranger Woody to invite those who may be interested to attend the award ceremony in April.

* 1-8-08 - I am a "Suchesite" by descent, even though I've never been any closer than changing planes at the Hartsfield-Atlanta Airport! My paternal great-grandfather, James Harvey Wilse Gillreath, was born there in 1888. Also, my paternal grandfather, Thomas Henry Gillreath, was born there in 1908, as was his brother Oscar in 1907. They moved to Hollene, in Curry Co. NM not long afterward, where James was murdered by his brother-in-law John Henry Woody. I understand that the boys were raised by their maternal grandfather, also surnamed Woody. My grandfather lived at various times near Dallas and Albuquerque. He died at age 59 in DeSoto TX in the early 1960's, when I was still a boy of about 9 or 10. His eldest son, Thomas Audie Gillreath was born in Dallas in 1932, became a very successful accountant (He held several posts and offices in the National Assoc. of Public Accountants, and its Texas affiliate), and died at age 69 on September 30, 2001 of colorectal cancer. He left! behind a wife, LaNelle, two sons, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. He also left behind 2 younger sisters, and was pre-deceased by his younger brother and parents. My younger brother Todd L.Gillreath has an upholsterery business in Florence AL, with his wife & 5 kids. I live in Arlington Hts. IL (NW of Chicago)with my wife, and am in coffee sales. My two daughters live in TX, the elder of the two in Plano with her husband and son, the younger in Austin. I am wondering if anyone in the Suches area knows about the the Gillreaths of Suches? Are there still any Gillreaths in the Suches area, or anyone related to them? Please feel free to contact me with any info, or just to say hello!!! Thanks so much, Larry L.
